Things to Consider
|
1. |
Make sure you Choose appropriate font styles when designing your
building signage |
Keep your font styles as simple as possible, avoiding using
more than two different typefaces or fonts in your building
signage. The more fonts that are used the harder your signage is
to read. Fonts like Times New Roman and older fonts with what’s
called a Serif are much harder to read from a distance.
When choosing your font you should always take into account what
kind of target market or age group you are trying to market your
signs towards. Modern and trendy fonts would not be ideal for a
nursing home signage nor would a flowing brush script be
appropriate for a mechanic’s signs.
Also when choosing your font you should avoid using all upper
case lettering as it actually takes the human eye longer to
recognize the word and read it.

2. |
Use
Graphics & logos appropriately |
Logos and clip art should only be used to grab the viewer’s
attention and unless your brand is well known, should have a
clear and easy to read wording along side.
Your building signage is to signify that you occupy that space
so your signage needs to be simple but clear. Take into account
when thinking about size for your signage how far away people
are going to be reading the building signage from. |
